INTRODUCTION TO CAPSTONE:
Capstone in literal terms means the last stone that is fixed on top of a building to make it complete. This project is the culmination of the foundation year where students choose their specific disciplines. It aims to help us reflect on the skills, knowledge & understanding, as well as qualities that we have acquired in the Foundation year so far.
MY EXPECTATIONS:
Ever since the starting of the foundation, Capstone Project was so hyped up which somehow made me a little nervous but also curious to know about it. Now that none of us have any backlog, this project feels like a fresh start to discover those hidden layers of creativity.
I feel that this project is going to be interesting and memorable being the last project of the Foundation year.

MARIAN BANTJES: Intricate Beauty by Design
In this video Marian Bantjes talks about her personal approach to create intricate designs and the reason behind choosing this. She says her appeal of what she does is connected to why shes does it.
This talk made me realize it is not always fixed to have a strategy but to follow your heart. Bantjes' designs are outside the mainstream of design thinking and are about the etheral qualities and how to bend tose innate properties according to our own will. The one thing that I connected the most was, "Wonder in design is an impetus inquiry and to wonder is to say I question", and asking 'WHY' is something that I have been doing all this while.
WHO AM I? A Philosophical Inquiry: Amy Adkins
This talk tries to tackle the subject of identity. Amy Adkins talks about the complex concept of persistent identity by asking "which aspect of you is I". He also questions how can every single part of something can be replaced yet it still remains the same thing.
"We are a collection of constantly changing parts", says Adkins "but in an amazing an illogical way we still remain the same".
In my opinion, while our physical appearance may change, it is our soul that remains the same and makes our individual identity.
PRE-WORK
MY SUBJECT OF STUDY:
For this task we were required to select three subjects which should be related to nature and also explain in one line the reason behind choosing it. The final subject for our study would be chosen by our tutors.
NEEM TREE: This tree has been there in my house for more than 20 years and my dad even put a swing on it. I have grown up climbing on it and swinging.
EYES: Eyes have become a favourite subject of expressing emotions through its drawings for me. "Everything lies, except the eyes".
ALOE VERA: I personally use aloe vera a lot when it comes to skin or hair care. It makes me wonder how a single plant can have so many properties?
The final subject that was chosen for me was 'The Neem Tree in My Home'.
MY ASSOCIATION WITH THE SUBJECT:
Ever since my family shifted to our current house, I have seen this Neem tree standing straight against the wall and I always wondered how many years ago would it had been planted. This tree not only holds my childhood memories but is also symbolic of my mother's caring nature. My mother used to boil its leaves and would use the water to heal the rashes on our skin. Also I was forced to drink its juice and brush my teeth with its thin branches as it removed the bacteria.
Sitting on it when my mood is off and listening to the chirpings of the birds always calms my mind.
MY CREATIVE SELF:
The journey of Capstone Project started with a little introspection about our own creative self. We were required to answer a set of question about our working process taking examples from the works that we have done till now in Foundation.
Below is my presentation on My Creative Self
FEEDBACK:
My 'persistence' and 'never giving up attitude' was appreciated by Prachi ma'am. Beside the tutor's feedback some of my peers including Muskaan Suri and Lavanya Chadha also appreciated my work and how I've helped them.
MY EXPERIENCE OF ARTICULATING MY CREATIVE SELF:

MY GOALS:
After the presentation on My creative self was over, we were asked to set 3-5 goals for us that we would like to achieve during our Capstone Project. This could be something we want to achieve / continue / eliminate.

INTENTION: I want to create a memory lane to show my association with the tree and how it has been an integral part of my life.

Video clip extracted from Zig Ziglar's talk on youtube:
This video talks about how the difference between a dream and a goal is that "a goal is a dream with a deadline". He also talks about how certain people give up because the picture of them that they have in their mind is not of a winner.
Two things that one should do to set Goals:
List the victories you had in your life
Identify the positive qualities you have
"The will to win is nothing without the will to prepare to win"
