MY JOURNEY:
This is the first time I have created a video like this and it took me 10 different apps and a whole day of editing to make it.
Hope you like it!
DESIGN PROCESS:
Below is the flow chart on how I personally proceed when it comes to developing a creative design outcome.

CONNECTING THE DOTS:
My learnings from M2M came to be helpful when I tried to manipulate the properties of the aluminium sheet like that of paper.
I tried to use cement the way I had used POP in F2F but that didn't turn out as expected.
I had worked with sunboard before in both the projects (M2M & F2F) so I was fully aware of its properties.
In some of my explorations, I tried to incorporate the creative extrusion technique learnt during F2F
The doodling part reminded me of FVL-1 when we had to express emotions through lines and dots
PERSONAL REFLECTION:
KEY REALISATIONS:
Working with materials is my favourite thing to do. I tried to explore as many varieties of materials I could get and understand how each behaves under certain techniques. Week 1 was quite hectic as the number of explorations was double than what it used to be in the earlier projects but as one of the teachers once said, "the more you explore, the more knowledge you will get", so I went on a journey of exploration filled with learning.
As a nature lover, I felt more attached while working with the natural materials. I always used to think that "art is the best way to express our feelings" but now I think that materials can portray them with much better intensity.
The fact that we first explored materials in their original state and then moved onto combining them with others in the second week is what helped me develop my concept for the final outcome. Earlier I used to panic while making the final outcome but this time since the process of making was divided into steps, it helped me execute my idea perfectly.
REVISED REFLECTION:
Over the course of this 3 week journey of exploring materials, I have learned how different materials behave under different techniques, for example, during the first week of exploration the one technique that I used the most was burning the materials too see how they react but what was interesting was to see that aluminium sheet did not melt/burn instead it got heated up being a good conductor of heat just like the aluminium utensils in the kitchen. Week 1 was quite hectic as the number of explorations was double than what it used to be in the earlier projects but as one of the teachers once said, "the more you explore, the more knowledge you will get", so I went on a journey of exploration which not only included the materials listed but also the scrap materials which I found in my home such as bottles and drawer handles.
As a nature lover, I felt more attached while working with the natural materials. I always used to think that "art is the best way to express our feelings" but now I think that materials can portray them with much better intensity.
(Wounded)
My design process has always started with gaining knowledge and reading about something at first as I am a firm believer that until you don't know about the situation you cannot solve it. The whole project was very exciting as exploring materials is my favourite thing to do.
ACHIEVEMENTS & STRENGTHS:
I believe that carving and making fine details is my area of strength. I am so fascinated by jalis that I always end up making one. Besides this, I also feel that I was somehow able to capture the explorations really well. My association with materials goes beyond their properties which is why I was able to give almost each one of them a title on Day 1.
Also another one of my achievements is the burning technique. I mean, I cannot express it but I feel that I make the best forms when I burn them accordingly.
STRUGGLES & CHALLENGES:
I was confident that working with cement would be the same as working with POP but then I got a reality check as it was not easy. Since I just poured the cement water in the mould without any binder to hold it together, the outcome broke into pieces. It was after a session with one of the seniors who had made a stable structure by dipping Jute cloth in cement that I realized that my cement needed to have a binder in it and not just water
Another thing that I struggled the most with was the steel mesh. Unlike aluminium mesh, the steel mesh is woven due to which it became difficult for me to cut it. So I decided to limit my explorations with the mesh and just folded it in whatever way was easy for me and I even ended up getting scratches on my hands due to the thin wires.
AT THE END:
Even though I could not get all the materials, I tried to work with whatever I had. Despite the never ending submissions, I was eventually able to catch up with all of them. The project was not just about materials but also about getting to know our seniors too through their work and discussions. As an art enthusiast, I loved all those discussions about various architects, sculptors. The presentation by Josh sir on various artist is still and will always be my favourite part.
If I were to be honest about my final outcome. It didn't turn out the way I thought and I was a little unsatisfied but I am not gonna go in a state of deep sorrow just like my theme of the outcome rather I will try to learn from it.
