INTRODUCTION:

The food item that I chose for this project was samosa. Being a foodie, samosa is one of my favourite food items.

DAY 1: MAKING THE SAMOSA

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:

  • Plain flour (maida)

  • Oil (for deep frying)

  • Potatoes

  • Peas

  • Green chilli (finely chopped)

  • Salt (according to taste)

  • Red chilli powder

  • Black pepper powder

  • Coriander leaves

  • Coriander powder

  • Green and red chutney

Below is the process video with instructions on how to make a samosa

DAY 2 & 3: MAKING VARIATIONS

VARIATIONS IN SHAPE:

VARIATIONS IN THE FILLING:

I mixed the red and green chutney inside along with the filling.

VARIATIONS IN THE COOKING METHOD:

Made a Samosa Paratha by toasting on a pan instead of deep frying

DAY 4: FINAL DISH

For the final dish I decided to apply my learning of think lab (challenging assumption activity) and challenged its shape and filling. I came up with 'STARRY BITES', a 'Star-shaped Samosa' in which each triangular shape would have a different filling.

It was very difficult to make it because the filling would keep coming out of the dough due to which the shape has distorted a bit in the final outcome. But despite all the struggles, the samosa turned out to be very tasty, especially the chocolate filling one and the cheese one were the most liked by everybody.
